The Biggest Threat To My Re-election? Gas!

If the Republicans take back the White House this year you can blame it all on one thing.

Economy?

Nope. Gas. Gasoline prices. As Bill Clinton said back in 1992, “It’s the economy, stupid.” Gas prices and the economy are almost one and the same to most Americans.

Alright, the economy is on a roll these days but that could be derailed by higher oil prices which translates to higher prices at the gas pump which translates to voter discontent which translates to a Republican in the White House.

Hey, I don’t have anything to do with oil prices. Did oil prices go down during the Bush administration?

Then there’s that Keystone Pipeline problem. Do American’s really think that if we buy oil from Canada that the Canadians will charge us less than we pay for Mideast oil? It doesn’t work that way.

We can drill, baby, drill to the point where no Mideast or foreign oil comes into U.S. ports at all, but does anyone believe that Exxon or Shell will sell it to us for less than they sell oil from OPEC?
